Social background check

A social background check on any creator. Before you sign them.

A one-time brand-safety check on any creator: a niche account with ten thousand followers, or someone the whole world already watches. Every finding carries its evidence, and every legal matter carries how it ended. One price either way.

▸ What it is

What is a social background check?

A social background check is a one-time read of everything a creator has posted in public, on every account they own: captions, what they say in videos, text on screen, and posts they have since deleted. Each finding is put in a risk category with the post that shows it, so you decide on the evidence before you sign.

It is for brand partnerships, not hiring. For a job candidate, use a screening company regulated under the FCRA. More on social media background checks.

Every post to the first one, every frame, every spoken word, every deleted upload, in the language it was posted in.

A spot-check reads the last hundred posts and calls it clean. The post that ends a campaign is usually years old, inside a video, in another language, or already deleted. We read all of it.

▸ Pass one · verify

One handle in. Every account found, and proved theirs.

Give us the account you were pitched. We find the rest across eleven platforms, fetch each real profile, and keep only the ones we can tie to the person: a link in their bio, a cross-reference, the same name and face. A namesake is dropped and listed. A maybe is offered, never charged.

▸ Pass two · fetch

Back to the first post. Not the latest hundred.

The post that ends a campaign is rarely recent. The feed is read to the beginning on every account, and the report says, per account, how many posts that was and what it could not reach.

▸ Pass three · read

AI watches every frame and hears every word.

A frame every two seconds through a vision model, the audio transcribed in over a hundred languages, the text burned into the frame read in six scripts. The caption is the marketing copy; the finding is in the video.

▸ Pass four · recover

What they deleted, the archive kept.

Public web archives hold captures of a profile over the years. We compare them with the live timeline, bring back what was removed with its capture date, and treat the removal as information in its own right.

▸ Public figures · the record

For the famous, we read the record around them.

When millions have already watched someone, their uploads tell you less than the press, the dockets and the regulators do. We read those, in six languages, and carry every matter to how it ended.

▸ Pass five · detect

Read in the language it was posted in.

Translate first and scan after, and a joke becomes an attack while a deadpan attack reads clean. Detection runs as posted, with the speaker, the audience and the region in frame. Only the evidence is translated.

▸ Pass six · review

Eighteen categories. Each one answered.

A clean result is reported as clearly as a flagged one. Anything we could not assess says so, per category, instead of passing as clean. A second model checks every finding against its evidence before it ships.

Every finding carries its evidence. Every allegation carries its outcome.

A finding that reports an allegation and stops is a rumour with a logo on it. The resolution sits in the same paragraph as the accusation, or the finding does not ship.

▸ How a check runs

From a handle to a report, in six passes.

  1. 1Verify

Each account is fetched and matched to the creator before it joins the check. A namesake is dropped and listed as checked, not theirs.

  2. 2Fetch

The full history on up to eleven platforms, to the first post. Posts, comments, replies, the lot.

  3. 3Read

Speech transcribed in 100+ languages. Video read frame by frame. On-screen text in six scripts. Every image.

  4. 4Recover

Web-archive captures compared with the live timeline. Removed posts come back with their capture date.

  5. 5Detect

Eighteen categories, judged in the original language, with the speaker, audience and region in frame.

  6. 6Review

A second model checks every finding against its evidence. The media is copied to storage so the proof does not expire.

▸ 1 · Order

Sign in to your brand workspace, or create one. Give us the handles, including the platform they treat as their group chat. Pay once.

▸ 2 · We read

The method is chosen for the person. Most checks finish in 10 to 60 minutes; you do not keep the page open.

▸ 3 · We review

Every candidate finding is checked against its evidence. Anything we could not read is named, per category, not folded into clean.

▸ 4 · You decide

Findings by category with the post, frame or line behind each. Export the PDF when legal or procurement asks.

Run a background check

▸ What you get

A report a lawyer can read, not a number nobody can audit.

A score invites a yes/no on a figure no one can check. The report puts the posts in front of the reviewer, so the decision is yours and the proof is on the page.

  • Every finding carries its evidence. The exact post, frame or transcript line, with the media copied to storage so the proof does not expire with the platform link.
  • Every allegation carries its outcome. Dismissed, settled, served, or unresolved as of a date, in the same breath as the accusation. A matter with no confirmed outcome does not ship.
  • Every gap is named. A private account, a dead video link, an audio track we could not read: reported per category, never folded into a clean result.
  • Beyond safety: fit. Their stated positions, what they will and will not stand beside, read against your brand, with a plain recommendation.

▸ Questions

What brands ask before they order.

How do you run a background check on an influencer before signing a deal?

Four steps. First, submit the creator’s handles on the platforms they use — up to 11 are supported — including the one you were not pitched, because risk usually lives there. Second, read the full history rather than a recent sample: every post on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook and Reddit, and whatever each of the other platforms exposes — captions, video transcripts, text burned into frames, and posts recovered from web archives after the creator deleted them. Third, categorise what you find into risk types — hate, NSFW, violence, legal, public feuds, undisclosed partnerships — instead of returning a single verdict. Fourth, have an AI verify every finding and attach the evidence so your legal team can audit it. CreatorScore does steps two to four in one scan of the accounts you submit: $29.99 for either the Quick tier on public content or Verified with creator-authorised access.

Does a background check produce a CreatorScore?

No, and that is deliberate. A background check returns categorised findings with evidence — it never produces a number, a grade or a tier. A CreatorScore is a separate product: a 1–100 trust score across a creator’s entire cross-platform footprint, kept current with ongoing monitoring. They answer different questions. The background check asks “what is in this person’s history?” before you sign; the score asks “how is this creator trending?” while you work with them. Buying one does not give you the other.

Can you analyse creators who post in languages other than English?

Yes, and this is where most brand-safety tools quietly fail. The common approach is to machine-translate everything into English and then scan it, which flattens register — sarcasm and in-group teasing read as sincere, while a genuine attack delivered deadpan reads as clean. CreatorScore runs detection in the original language and translates only the evidence shown to you. Severity is judged with the speaker, the audience and the region in frame, because the same word can be affectionate in one country and a slur in another, and a term reclaimed inside a community is an insult from outside it. On-screen text is read in six scripts and speech is transcribed in over a hundred languages.

How far back does the historical scan go?

To the beginning of the account, not to an arbitrary recent window. Most vetting tools sample the last hundred posts because it is cheap, but brand crises rarely come from what a creator posted this month — they come from something years old that a journalist or a competitor found first. The scan also checks web archives for posts that no longer appear on the profile, since deleting a post removes it from the feed but not from the internet.

Can I run a background check without the creator knowing?

Yes — the Quick tier ($29.99) analyses only public content, requires no creator participation and sends them no notification. The Verified tier ($29.99) is the opposite by design: the creator connects their own accounts through OAuth, so the analysis runs on first-party content they authorised. Choose Quick when you are evaluating a creator you have not approached yet, and Verified when they are already in conversation and you want the deeper, consented read.

What if some of the creator’s content cannot be analysed?

You are told, explicitly and per category. A private account, a dead video link, a platform that returned nothing — each is reported rather than silently folded into a clean result. This matters more than it sounds: a “no issues found” conclusion earned from a partial read is worse than no answer at all, because it manufactures false confidence. If we could read every image but only two-thirds of the spoken audio, the report says exactly that, and marks the categories that depend on audio as partially assessed instead of clear.

How long does a background check take?

Most complete within 10 to 60 minutes. A creator with a small, recent catalogue finishes quickly; a creator with thousands of videos going back a decade takes longer, because every video is transcribed and analysed frame by frame rather than sampled. You do not need to keep the page open — the report appears in your dashboard and you are emailed when it is ready.

Do you provide FCRA-compliant reports for employment screening?

No. CreatorScore is a brand-safety and partnership-vetting tool, not a consumer reporting agency, and our reports are not FCRA-compliant. They must not be used to make decisions about employment, housing, credit or insurance. If you need a background check for hiring, use a licensed FCRA-regulated screening provider. What we do is different: evaluating public content for brand-partnership risk, which is not a regulated consumer report.

What platforms do you cover?

Eleven: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, Reddit, Twitch, Kick, LinkedIn, Threads and Bluesky. On six of them — YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook and Reddit — we read the complete posting history; on the other five we read as much as the platform exposes, and the report states exactly how many posts were read on each account. Snapchat and Pinterest are not supported. A check scans the accounts you submit, plus any already known for that creator — it does not go looking for accounts you did not name — so include the platform the creator treats as their group chat, because that is usually the one nobody thought to check.
